If I Make it to Sunday

If you're a songwriter, you know some songs are just plain hard to write. Although it is a labor of love, it can take hours, days or even weeks of pouring yourself over a lyric or a melodic phrase to get just what you are looking for. Then there are those songs that for whatever reason come super easy. It almost feels as though they are being poured into you. Since I have made a fresh commitment to my writing and career, I feel like I am getting these "gifts" more often. One such song came to me during a catnap last week. I swear the idea hit me like a bolt of lightning and woke me out of sleep. I jumped up and had the first half of the chorus written in a matter of moments. I spent the last few days figuring out the best framework to hang the idea on and fleshing out some of the details. The song is called "If I Make it to Sunday" and is about having hope in what sometimes seems like a hopeless world. I have a first draft and am just now trying to replace some "tell me" lines with a couple more "show me" lines. If you don't know what I mean by that, shoot me a message and I'll fill you in. Anyway, I am excited about the song, and I will try to get a piano/vocal demo up in the next day or so so you can all hear it!
